End of summer musings

Anyways these days I am musing about time travel. You would think that someone in the future could develop a go to the past contraption and be here among us now. If that is the case I want to know who you are and can you tell  me something that will make me rich and happy. It could maybe be an alien from another planet. Is it true that Starbucks and Apple and Tesla Motors will rule the world as in the dream I had last night? The last two decades have been so progressive that change is moving at what seems the speed of light. Someone is manipulating us I am sure and I am sure it is from the future.

I really enjoyed the summer up to a point. I tend to do things I enjoyed in the past so I knew what to expect. Sometimes it is better to try something new and mysterious and see what happens. I guess as I get older I try to avoid risky endeavours.

Anyways enough negativity it was a great summer in Montreal not that humid and real pleasant. Montreal is still economically viable and a lot of fun. Whatever happened to the Charbonneau commission anyways and the habs humiliation in the first round? Not even the azzurri failures in the confederation cup depressed me. In fact Montreal was almost docile in comparison to the student protests of last year.

There are some things that irritate me including my father's failing health and driving in Montreal. All I want to do on a Sunday afternoon is go for a leisurely drive not a drag race risking my life. As well I do not respect people that can't keep between the bloody lines on the street, or park in the middle of the damn street or drive dangerously for no apparent non-moronic reason. Yes ban those half blind idiots that wear sunglasses and see nothing. Can we do something about the bicycle path near les quartier des spectacles? You can't be serious a bicycle path on the sidewalk. I have seen pedestrians get hit by a bicycle and it could lead to broken limbs and brain damage. Finally, the damn road construction has started blocking every conceivable route into the city again.

Inhale exhale relax. Ok so where was I. The Sarah Silverman show was great at the comedyfest in spite of her dress. Read the English Girl on the beach and it was idyllic beach reading. I decided not to eat anything out of a box. Bought some furniture.

The habs off season was so-so. A positive move was the signing of the swedish Doug Murray and the signing of the goalie coach for the vastly overrated Price who can hopefully become an above average goalie. I don't hold much hope for Danny boy or for the resigning of Drewiskie. George Parros was an obvious signing that any mental midget could comprehend. The habs have a slew of young hopefuls and if one or two make the grade this team will improve tenfold. I hope they don't trade Nathan Beaulieu. There is a reason why other teams want him.

These days I am thinking of time travel. I was thinking if Stephen King's book was true and you could go back to 1958 I could see the Flying Frenchmen at their majestic best. I could watch baseball in its heyday with switch-hitting Mickey Mantle swatting dingers with the muscles he developed on the farm. I would probably be a journalist reporting on Fidel and Che as they overthrew a dictator and meeting the ailing Hemingway in Cuba. See the aging wonder Sugar Ray Robinson fight the determined Carmen Basilio. Join the Quebecois Jack Kerouac as one of the first beatniks and smoke the devil weed and attend a concert where the girls squeal at Elvis as he swivelled his hips.  Trying to decide who I should meet Marilyn and Joltin Joe, or Brigitte and Pablo, or Sophia and Marcello.. Maybe I should try and be an extra in a Fellini movie?
